Xie Yu is an academician of the National Academy of Sciences, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a tenured professor of sociology at Princeton University and director of the Center for Contemporary China, a lecturer at the Peking University “Thousand Talents Program”, and director of the Center for Social Studies. Professor Xie Yu is a well-known Chinese sociologist in the international academic community. His main research areas include social stratification, statistical methods, demography, sociology of science, and Chinese studies. He has made significant academic contributions in promoting the development of quantitative research methods. Representative academic monographs include Regression Analysis and Sociology.
